AQ 150 as a wier to a 5.5 tank as fuge

What do u guys think of this.

 

I would take the AC 150 drill a hole in the bottom, put in a bulkhead, put a piece of glass/plastic in the main compartment to seperate it from the tube so the water flows over the plastic, to the place with the hole, acting as a weir. I would turn the motor off after syphen has been created. Then have a 5.5g (sectioned out) and a return pump to the main tank.

 

Then reason i am thinking about this is I already have a AC 150. Can this be drilled without cracking the plastic?

or maybe let it drain through the hole for the motor and put in a U-tube on the side with the basket?

 

Any ideas??
