nannodad
I am confused. What changes do I need to make. My Ph is 7.8 and Kh 12-13 and calcium 400. All is happy in the tank. Shouldn't my PH be 8.0 - 8.2. If I add Dkh buffer that will lower my Kh. Right? But it will stabilize my PH bringing it to 8.0. Do I have this right? Link to comment
skydive
http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-09/rhf/index.php Read the article above it's more helpful then I. Adding buffers will increase dKH and will probably only keep the pH above 8 for a couple hours. You need to find the reason its low. If you don't have a skimmer try more surface agitation. Looks like an elevated CO2 level IMO. You aren't missing any fish are you? Link to comment

More than likely you just need to open a few windows to get more air circulating. When you have elevated Alk low Ph is usually due to 1 of 2 things. 1) CO2 build up 2) Something died and is increasing the acidity. What's Mg level? Mg has nothing to do with it. Link to comment
