MH Acclimation

I have a 20L with 155w PC and I want to move the corals to a 55 with a 175w MH. Do you guys think I should acclimate the corals to the new lighting. The corals are all softies and the new tank is about 8in taller than the old tank plus the 8 or 9in the MH will be over the waterline.

I am building a custom hood for the MH and I have plenty of extra wood to build a temporary frame for the acclimation

Yes you should definitely acclimate the corals to the new lights. Cut your lights to about 4hrs...then after a week add an hour & continue to do so every couple days untill your at your normal lighting schedule. Keep an eye on things, if some corals seem to be stressed cut back an hour or 2 for a few days and try again.

It sounds like a pain but its much safer this way

thanks, I thought I would still have to acclimate. I think I'm going to start with the lights about 12" or 14" over the water and lower it to 9" unless you guys think I should start higher
