WhiteShark
Has anyone ever used the hydor cable heating system. Basically you run a cable in an "S" patter along the bottom of your aquarium and then cover it with sand. Seems like a cool idea (until it breaks and you have to get it out that is). Anyone ever used one of these? http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_AquariumPage...ble_system.html Link to comment
Sergeant-G
I have seen this and wondered as well, I guess as with any new product a brave few have to try it and if it works the usere base of that product grows Link to comment
WhiteShark
anybody else? Link to comment
BKtomodachi
They really are not meant to provide the complete heating for an aquarium. Most people use them for planted FW tanks. Link to comment
xbwolfx
i wouldn't want to put rocks on top of it either... Link to comment
WhiteShark
hhmm...interesting...to bad liked the idea of not having a visible heater.... Link to comment
scottyreef
i wouldnt use it look at the length for a 100watt model its 33 feet long even if it worked well. you still would have a visable cable though Link to comment
clownfish1124
another option is the rena smart heater or just throwing it in your hob or sump Link to comment
WhiteShark
I'll have to look at that one too...It looks pretty nice... Link to comment
clownfish1124
if you have a canister, hydor eth Link to comment
WhiteShark
Well now I'm torn between the RENA smart heater and the hydor eth...lol...I don't have a canister filter but I figure it'll be just as easy to hook up the hydor to the return from my refugium...Not sure how accurate the hydor eth would be though b/c its not physically in the tank to monitor the tempature. disaster999
the temp in your fuge is going to be the same temp as the tank. end of discussion. no if ands or buts. just impossible to have 2 different temperature zone within an aquarium environment. besides, you wouldnt be relying on the temperature markings on the heater. they are known to be highly inaccurate. if you didnt already, get a digital thermometer for 6 or 7 bucks. adjust the heater accordingly Link to comment
WhiteShark
Oh, yeah a digital thermometer is a must in any tank... Link to comment
