added new live sand. problems?

Last night I added 2 pounds of live sand to my 4 gallon reef. I had a layer of crushed coral so I put the sand on top of the crushed coral. My perculas, LR and mushroom coral seem ok, the water never got cloudy.

 

It's having new sand going to effect my water quality? what happens to all the worms and little animals that were living on the gravel?

the gravel will eventually end up on top and the finer grade sand will sift down below it. The animals in the sand should move into the sand and both layers should end up with plenty of life.
