another 10 gal sump with a turbofloator and a wet dry made of styrene and bioballs..... and a return pump should work.... OR use a marineland Tideflow sump. They work nicely

woah woah woah dave....what kind of tank do you keep? Were talkin about a 10 gal NANO here. No need for a tidepool (im guessing thats what you meant when you said tideflow), turbofloater, or any bio-balls.

Josh,

the most complicated part about making a sump is the plumbing. The easiest way is to have a hole in the bottom or back of your tank which can be used as an overflow or gravity feed into your sump and then a return pump in your sump to pump the water back in. The gravity feed ensures that thjere will never be any type of overflow water problem since there is no need to match anything. Since your starting from scratch with a new tank then drilling wont be hard to do. Well it will be hard to do but you wonthave the problem that many people do since they try and add on while the main tank is already setup. If you can get someone to drill the tank for you...that would work better. Or if you can get a pre-drilled tank to use for the main display...that would make it really easy on you. Feel free to ask me any questions...my aol screen name is quiksilver5768
