Acrophet
The instructions say: From http://static.zoovy.com/merchant/theh2ogur...ation_Guide.pdf When you want to make RO water only, the valve positions Fast flush valve - Closed DI Bypass valve - Closed RO only valve - Open Product valve - Closed To make DI/RO water, the valve positions: Fast flush valve - Closed DI Bypass valve - Closed RO only valve - Closed Product valve - Open Why would the DI Bypass always be closed? I would think it should be: When you want to make RO water only, the valve positions Fast flush valve - Closed DI Bypass valve - Open RO only valve - Open Product valve - Closed To make DI/RO water, the valve positions: Fast flush valve - Closed DI Bypass valve - Closed RO only valve - Closed Product valve - Open When making RO water don't you want to Bypass the DI, but when making DI/RO the bypass should be closed so the water goes through the DI filter. Does that make sense? What is everyone else using for valve settings? Any help would be great! Link to comment
vangvace
The DI bypass valve remains closed unless you're going a fast flush. If you want RO or RO/DI is only dependent on the output valve you open in normal operation. Link to comment
The Propagator
+1 to the above under normal circumstances but your unit is an exception. After reading your directions in the PDF link you posted..... This is correct to make RO water only... Fast flush valve - Closed DI Bypass valve - Closed RO only valve - Open Product valve - Closed The product valve would be closed because that's the line OUT of the DI chambers. The DI bypass valve OUT would then become the product line straight from the RO membrane. and this is correct to make RO/DI water.... Fast flush valve - Closed DI Bypass valve - Closed RO only valve - Closed Product valve - Open Fast flush is how you back wash your membrane so it would obviously be closed in normal operation. The DI bypass valve... self explanatory given the description above. It stays closed to complete the trip through the DI. RO only valve closed stays closed because your not wanting to make RO only. You want it to run through the DI chambers. The product valve stays open because given the set up listed it is the only way for produced RO/DI water to exit. To flush the membrane it looks like you would want your valves as follows: Fast flush valve - Open DI Bypass valve - Closed RO only valve - Open Product valve - CLosed The RO valve being open, as well as the fast flush valve being open, and the DI bypass, and Product valve closed will redirect water over the Membrane and into the drain. Its a good idea to back flush your system like this about once a month for 15-30 minutes. Also throw away the 1st 10 - 15 gallons of RO/DI water you make. Any nasties that may be in the system will be flushed out in the 1st few gallons made. Taken from the directions... " The operation of this unit requires that the D.I. bypass valve be close and the fast flush valves be closed." Link to comment
