nannodad
Can someone explain this to me. I bought a Mardel Water test kit today because it had ALK test in it. I use API for everything else. So I bought the test STRIP type and it tests total ALK/Buffering capacity. Which I am not sure what this means my results were 300+. I am assuming this is not just an ALK test because that is a little off what I expect to see for a regular alk test and everything is alive in my tank. What did I get? Link to comment

nannodad
Have you read the instructions ? It says it measures the total amount of buffers that are present in the water. And that total Alk is sometimes referred to as Buffering Capacity, and that I should read above 120 ppm but it doesn't give me a high level. Is this what people are testing when the are testing ALK? The Propagator
300 should be about right then. I had one a while back an from what I can remember 300 was right there in the blue. ( there should be a color code on the bottle that your strips are in isn't there ?) No offense to the OP.... but now do you see why I am CORNfused about this Bdare? Its a quick dip test strip. Directions in the box, on the bottle and a color comparison chart. Link to comment
