How long does it take for dosing to effect test results?

I think it would be cool to start a sticky thread of this, but in the mean time i have a specific question. How long does it take for the dosing of alklinity in an aquarium to show up on the test results? Is it instant like specific gravity?

within an hour if not quicker depending on flow.

Yeah... just needs to get mixed up by powerheads, return pumps etc. As soon as it's been evenly mixed through out your tank.

Tank volume and water movement decide it. ( as already stated )

I usually wait about 2- 3hours before I test for alkalinity after dosing and a good 4 hours or longer before I test calcium after dosing. Then again I have large tanks so.. meh...
