GIRLGONEAQUA
I did a water test today to find my ph level is 7.4 (normal is 8.0-8.4 right?) I know I just put new rock/sand in there, but i was a little worried. Should I be patient and wait it out, or fix it? Link to comment
shrimphombre
I'd do a water change, and retest, that is low for pH IMO Link to comment
GIRLGONEAQUA
I just retested and I got 8.2 So maybe my first test i miscounted drops? or something Link to comment

GIRLGONEAQUA
okay now im in trouble, I just did a water change this morning because its almost been 2 weeks since iv had water running in their (without rock) and my PH is now 7.0 what do i do? did i do something wrong? bdare
Your tank is brand new. You don't need to worry about Ph till after the cycle. The Ph will be low because of the decaying matter in your tank. Link to comment
GIRLGONEAQUA
it was 8.4 before i did the change....now its 7.0 Link to comment
bdare
it was 8.4 before i did the change....now its 7.0 Don't worry about it.... Put the rock and water in your tank and leave it alone. Did you measure the Ph of your makeup water? Was the water sitting stagnent or was it being stirred by a powerhead? More importantly than measuring the Ph of your tank water is measuing the Alk. Alk will help maintain a high Ph. What test kits are you using? Link to comment
GIRLGONEAQUA
I didnt test it before i put it in, so maybe i should of done that...and no the water was not stagnent and im using API the other results were perfect but the ph like i said is 7.0 ---------edit------------------ ah ha! im a genius! my temp was too high...almost 85.9 just turned off the lights and lowered it to 79.9 and now the ph is back to 8.2 I had such a scare! thanks for helping tho Link to comment
