fellbeast
It looks like diatoms ro brown algae to me, but a friend of mine thought it was rust, and was asking me about it. Now i'm questioning it. It right on top where the shaft meets the plastic. It' pretty much on the plastic though. Link to comment
itzclayyo
pics is the only way it could be told, i doubt its rust though.... how old is it? koralias can get built up with diatoms Link to comment
fellbeast
It's not even a month old.. to me under the lights rust would be orangish, this is brownish. I'm at work now, but I can take a pic when I get home. I don't think it is, but I just would rather be safe than sorry. Would rust have adverse effects if it was? Link to comment
itzclayyo
not sure how rust would effect the tank but im sure it would, copper levels, magnesium maybe, all kinds of things. see if you can just rub it off, if you can its diatoms Link to comment
fellbeast
It's on the plastic grille, it's gotta be diatoms.. I can't see rust attaching to plastic opposite of the flow. Link to comment
Mischeif Nite
I've seen the same thing on my Koralia Nano.....some kind of pest algae....diatoms, cyano, etc......it rubs right off or your cuc will get there eventually. Link to comment
thapatient
happens to mine too, it's just diatoms or some other algae, comes right off. Link to comment

tcreefr
I've plucked a Trochus from its spot a few times and put it on my Koralia - cleaned it right up. Now they go there on their own for regular spit shines! Link to comment
