Can I use this set up?

I have some baby platys that were recently moved to my big tank, and I was thinking of converting the 10 gallon tank they were in to saltwater, but I'm not sure exactly what I would need. I just want to start with some clownfish and maybe a blue damsel. My other tank is a 90 gallon and I want to get my feet wet before dump the money to convert that one.

So, could I use the existing water? I figure it's already been cycled even though it's freshwater. It also has an aquaclear mini filter, could I use that as well? Would I need live rock or coral for the fish to survive?

So far I think I need a powerhead and a protien skimmer, along with sand and salt, but I'm not sure. Can anybody help?

mind as well, start with the 90. it will save u money. my 10 gallon cost almost $500 now. and it's nowhere near completion. so just do the 90 instead.

the use of RO water is better. if not, use distilled. do not use the freshwater. get plenty of live rock and live sand. and don't get any damsels.

but i would definitely do the 90g instead.

cheers
