Remora skimmer, Breaking in twice ?

I purchased a use Remora, I've read several times that these skimmers STOP producing bubbles after they break in.

 

This skimmer was used for a few years, got a new pump for it today and set it up, and of course, bubbles, bubbles everywhere.

 

So is this skimmer breaking in again ? Or is this one just a bubble maker ?

 

 

 

Also, how good are the bubble traps ? I know the surface skimming is great but does it actually stop the bubbles?
