Is the maxi-jet wavemaker compatible with the min-jet or micro-jet?

should be. I've had both those pumps. the micro-jet I used with the JBJ auto top off so it darn well better be able to start and stop frequently. I have a couple of mini-jets (one in my 6g and one in the sump of my 30g) and neither of those pumps (micro or mini) will have any issues starting and stopping.
