How does a float switch work?

I recently ordered and received a float switch from Cameron Coe and was wondering how they work and how it should be set in the tank...Its jjust a typical float switch, nothing special, but I need to know where the sensors and everything is so I can set it up...help

The sensors are inside the white stick part. The outside floaty thingy has magnets inside. When the magnets on the float are at a certain level, they'll somehow :dozingoff: complete the circuit and turn on the pump. You'll have to test out different heights to see where the point is.
