reefsrule
There's brown algae on the side on my tanks and I was told that snails and crabs won't eat it. My lighting system is a 9 watt compact flourescent blue and a 13 watt cp fl white, but I'm only running the blue light during the cycling period. I'm about done but there's still no live stock in it. Should I turn on the 13 watt too? By the way, someone said I should use distilled and I don't know what that is. Does any one know? Link to comment
NanoBound
I totally disagree with the fact that you were told that snails and crabs won't eat diatoms. I have cerith snails and red hermit crabs and they devowered it. Heres a link saying they eat it!! Not to mention others that eat it as well. Have to say you were misinformed. http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/m...ory_Code=Snails http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/m...gory_Code=Crabs Link to comment
reefsrule
Never mind about the water question Link to comment
longra
Don't sweat it. It'll go away on its own if you have live rock and live sand. The small crabs will literally make pigs of themselves on the stuff and my nerite snails loved it, too. Link to comment
reefsrule
I decided on maybe about 1 crab and 2 snails and R/O water. Anything that I should do for their arrival. My tank has been cycling for at least 3.5 weeks. Should I dose anything, or just make sure my water levels are okay? Link to comment
reefsrule
Got back from Cape Code and my snail and crab in the tank were okay. Hooray! Link to comment
