I was wondering if I would be able to set one of these up and put a mix of media in it instead of just phosban.

I was thinking of mixing purigen, chemi-pure elete and rowa phos. I am planning on just throwing the media out about every 6 weeks.

 

Anyone ever try this?

Any information would be great.

Good Idea in theory. Only issue I can sorta think of, is the different media's bubbling against each other... Could cause one (or more) to break down faster than when used alone.

You would have to bag them individually which would make them less productive....purigen is super fine.

I am going to bag the items. I am going to try and keep it loose in the bag for more surface area contact with the water. I am hopefull that this will work great.

I run Kent Marine Carbon and Phosguard in mine without any bags and

it works just fine. I tried bags...it didnt work. You better without them

unless you want to use chemipure

 

Carbon and phosguard work just fine. You can not use chemipure without

a bag thou..its too fine and will go right thru the filter pads.
