Reefergal
I recently seen a tank with this, and was wondering what kind of lighting causes this? Is it the MH or moonlighting? I know its not PC because I have that. All I know is I loved the effect that it gave the tank. Can someone help me on this? Link to comment
Reefergal
So its the MH that causes that awesome look? Do all MH wattages do that? Thanks for replying!!!! Link to comment

Physh1
The shimmer is caused from the metal halide lighting. Why? The light from a metal halide comes from the arc tube that emits the light. Because the light comes from a single point and not across a length (like a PC tube) the light catches ripples and waves on the water surfaces which reflect/refract/etc and give you a shimmer. It's very cool:D Cameron Link to comment
McBrew
Yeah... just today I upgraded from PC to MH. I got a PFO 150w pendant. The light is awesome and the shimmer is beautiful. Within minutes, my turbinaria opened more than it ever had before! I'm going clam shopping now! Link to comment
