Ocho Cinco
I don't know that much about the quality of protein skimers and was wondering if this was a good skimmer. It is a CPR SR4 with rio 1700. It is used and I was offered it at $110 shipped. I was wondering if it is a good skimmer for the money. I will be using it on a 80 gallon. Thanks!!! Link to comment
bdare
What do you plan on keeping in the tank? If you're just keeping LPS and softies it should help. If you are going to feed heavy and really need to export nutrients... not so good. Check out Octopus skimmers. They are very reasonable and out perform most skimmers on the market! Link to comment

I'm mainly keeping LPS and softies, not many sps. Plus fish. Link to comment
Ocho Cinco
How about this one for $80? Aquamedic turbofloater 100 with the ocean runner 2700? Which one is better? Link to comment
bdare
NO NO NO. Come on. You'll easily spend more than that on livestock for your tank. Minimum: http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/m...ry_Code=Octopus Better: http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/m...ry_Code=Octopus Better still: http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/m...ry_Code=Octopus I have a recirculating skimmer. They are better cause they work the same water multiple times so you can be sure the water coming out is CLEAN. Link to comment
Ocho Cinco
I'm new with skimmers. Why is that one so bad? I'm looking for a used on so it has been hard to find one. Link to comment
SPS20
+1. Get yourself an octopus, or equivalent. Don't skimp on your skimmer, it is the heart of your filtration system. Link to comment
