danc19
Just starting to convert an eclipse 12 from a fish only tank to a nano. Is the protein skimmer a must, or can I get away without it. I get conflicting opinions from local aquariums. Link to comment
killrblue
A lot of members here do not have Protein Skimmers. There are several eclipse 12 tanks that do not use them. Check out the Member's Nano Reefs Forum to look at them. I use one because of the future bio load that 3 fish will bring in 10g. Link to comment
SLOreefer
ok first of all dont ask your local aquarium shop about nanos...noone thinks its possible ha ha. jk if you find a good one stick weith them. anyway you dont need to skim. i would say a majority of people here do not skim. does it help if things die or something happens to your tank...absolutely. to me its not worth the extra cost. and for you, you would have to drill your tank and make a sump or majorly modify your hood.
