dafullerman
Because mainly of this site I have decided to take the "dive" into nano-reefing. I have purchased a 30 gallon oceanic "cube" aquarium without lighting. I have read that the ideal lighting is 5-10 watts per gallon. I am only planning on keeping softies and some fish for right now. What tycpe of lighting do I need and where can I find it. The tank is 20 1/2 wide so the hood has to be able to fit the tank or I can even go with a pendent I guess. I would like a cover however. I am new to this so be gentle. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!! Link to comment
going to see the oracle
check out hellolights for they're 96 watt pc quad http://hellolights.com/201xcoaqpcho.html or if you want more flexibility than just shoot straight http://hellolights.com/17methalretk.htmlfor they're 175watt metal halide i would personally just get a metal halide form the start so if you ever decide you want something other than softies (which happens to us all) than you have that flexibility + the metal halide just looks really cool. dafullerman
Will these lights just be placed directly on the tank cover like the stock lighting was? It seems like these would get VERY hot! Link to comment
dafullerman
Has anyone had any experience with these lights? http://www.marinedepot.com/a_lt_pc_csl.asp The CustomSeaLife PowerCompact/Moon-Lite Fixtures pictured. Would this 2 x 40w + 1 moonlight be enough light? Thanks again for everyone's help!! Link to comment
Jahkaya
Your Cube is tall. Try to go with a MH, or expect to keep any Light loving corals only at the top. the 2x40 watt would be kinda low light. the 96 watt powerquad can be equiped with legs and would be a better deal if you wanted to go PC.
