T-Dawg
Hi, I use argonite substrate. Every week or so the substrate appears to get 'dirtier'. Tank has been up for 3 months. I have good corralline growth on my live rock, etc but it appears to be slowly taking over my substrate. I also have some super dark purple fuzzy algae growing on some of my rock & substrate. Is this good, bad, normal? the only white patches left are mainly spots where the light doesn't shine. Would it be a good idea to physically stir up the sand bed or just leave it be? I like the white substrate on the members nano pics. Link to comment
surfy
It sounds to me like you have a cynobacteria outbreak. Is it jelly like and red/maroon in color. If it is cyno then you need to syphon as much as you can. If it is too far in where there is too much to syphon then try Erythromycin. It is a medication used to treat bacterial diseases in fish but will also get rid of cyno. I have used E.M. Tablets by Aquarium Pharmaceuticals and they have worked great. Hope this helps Link to comment
