Suction Cups Used to Suck

I built a new wave timer for my 30L. I moved one of the PHs (mini404) and now it won't stick to the tank! I scraped the side of the tank and had no problem with the suction cups prior to the move. I cleaned the cups, but the thing falls off about every 20th cycle, the cycles are random so I end up with a milking issue.

 

Any ideas for making the thing stick well through starting and stopping cycles?

you could lower the water a little, silicone the cups to the glass and when it has dried fill the tank back up
