tdsounds
I just recently purchased a csl 2x40 watt with the moonlight fixture. I was wondering if I could put a sheet on plexiglass to cover the tank to limit the evaporation. I see that many people on this board don't even have a hood on. Why is that? Gas exchange? Plus I don't have a filter running in my system. So whats gonna happen to dust that falls in? All I got is a 10 gal. with a 2inch sand with 12lbs live rock as filtration. Link to comment
TiGs
You can use a cover but it will increase the temp in the tank since the cover will take away the evaporation which helps in cooling the tank down. Also with the tank being covered and you not using a mechanical filter that will take a tole on your oxygen exchange. Something to consider. I only cover my tank when the lights are off and I'm running a filter to aid in oxygen exchange. Link to comment
