clemtiger00
How long should your lights be on in a typical reef tank. My fish only marine lights are on about 10 hours, where my fresh water tank has its lights on for about 12 hours. What is the best time for a Nano? Link to comment
seabass
12 hours is good (as many corals need light for food). However it is common to reduce the light cycle to as low as 10 hours to help control algae. Somewhere in this range should be fine. I compromise and run lights for 11 hours each day. I believe you should also control algae by managing phosphates and nitrates versus relying heavily on a short light cycle. Link to comment
