Is ok do stir up your sand bed?

I wanted to get some of the better

looking sand to cover any current

ugly spots caused by the cycle.

You can stir your sand up a bit, in the beginning, without problems. However, after awhile, Cyanobacteria and other bacteria will develop regions to live; so it’s best not to disturb a mature sand bed (especially a deep sand bed). It is good to add a few sand sifting critters to help oxygenate the upper layers of your sand bed (like Scarlet Reef hermits, Blue Leg hermits, Nassarius Snails, and Cerith Snails).
