POwer compact lights

I'm thinking of getting a 50/50 actinic power compact tube for my 15" nano. At the moment I have a bright florescent tube, my question is,do I have to get a new hood for my nano? (At the moment the light has plastic covering it to stop water getting in as I have to keep the water level very near the top or my water pump won't work)
