hey guys, ive been browsing here for about half a year or so. anyways, i saw a good deal (i think) in a local ad. im tempted to get it, but i know i still got much to learn. its a well stocked (with coral) tank, so its either i sell the coral or cant screw up.

to make a long list short, this is what he's selling for 400$ CND

20 gallon

1 x 65watt pc (10K)

1 x 55 coral life 50/50

jager 100w

Saline Solutions HOB skimmer (how is this?)

3 power heads

20 lb Fiji Liverock

2-component B-Ionic calcium & alcalinity buffer system

seachem test kit lab (no calcium)

he includes bunch of live stock (no fish though)

live stock:

1 Candy Coral w/9 'heads'

1 Green Chromis

1 Pink Tip anenome

A few blue legged Hermits

A few snails

Several Pulsing Xenia's

1 Montipora (growing and branching fast)

A 2-fist sized rock with one side completely covered in Green Star polyps

4 Green line mushrooms

5 Brown polyps

anyone got suggestions. what can i do with this setup?

PROBLEM: i think this might be a problem. he cycled his tank with a fish, and in order to keep the fish alive he kept changing the water, so i guess the cycle was a bit messed up. so if i buy the setup, ill want to recycle, but there's bunch live stuff in there

It's not a problem and you don't need to recycle it or anything...

$400C = $300US

20G - $40 + $40/stand

20# Fiji - $80 ($4/lb.)

Equipment - about $80

livestock - about $100~$150

lighting - about $180

so you're ahead of the game if you buy it one shot like that. you can get lower prices but i'm figuring shipping and average prices.

the system should be ok if he's got the corals growing in there already. you might have a mini-cycle from the move but nothing some wc's can't head off. find out how long he's had the setup and the age of the bulbs. if you have to change them soon that'll run you about $65US. hth
