tank equipment suggestions?

Hello all,

I am looking for equipment suggestions for a 75gal SPS tank that I plan on building this fall. I have listed them below. (specific brands and model numbers please)

 

-Tank

-Sump (size/type)*****(I would really appreciate suggestions for the sump in particular-is an AGA megaflow sump any good?)

-Return Pump

-UV sterilizer

-Protien Skimmer

-Light retrofit fixture

-Equipment to create the best flow in the tank

 

I am thinking of using the AGA Megaflow 75gal tank. It runs me about $200 at the LFS.

I am also thinking I want x2-250w metal halide combined with an actinic T5 retrofit lighting system.

tank: personal preference, but AGA is big and won't rip you off so that's good

 

sump: I would skip the AGA sump, just make your own it will suit your needs better

 

return pump: eheim 1260

 

UV sterilizer: save your money put it into the protein skimmer

 

protein skimmer: depends on your budget, ATB small would be great, or get the octo extreme if you're on a tighter budget ... this is the one area where I wouldn't skimp for an sps tank, get a good skimmer

 

light: personal preference

 

best flow: 2 x vortech mp40w, or a tunze wavebox and a couple tunze streams or maxijet mods if you're on a budget

I am looking to spend about $2500 for everything.

 

(not including LR or LS or any corals-----setup only)
