Parasite71
Hello, I have just started up a 5.5 nano and I was wondering how much Kalk I should be dripping? I drip a gallon a night in my 58 gallon reef. I did try about one quarter gallon last night and it covered the glass with a thick film. Any help would be great. Thanks, Parasit71 Link to comment

tinyreef
it sounds like you're precipitating caco3. do you have similar livestock in the 58g to the 5g? i'm assuming you do and that is justifying the need for kalk. either the livestock doesn't use it as fast in the 5g as the 58g (in proportion) or that the 5g already had a sufficient level of ca/alk before the kalk. also, 1/4 gallon for 5g in one night sounds like a LOT, especially since you only do 1-gallon for the 58g. i'd suggest you stop the kalk additions to the nano or switch to a two-parter. btw don't forget the mg levels to balance out the ca, esp if you're looking for coralline growth.
