Barb
This crab came with my Florida Keys liverock Tuesday. Please ID him if you can. Thanks Link to comment
Barb
He's about the size of a nickel. Thanks Link to comment
NanoBound
If he was just a bit bigger...you could eat him! I am originally from florida and it looks like you have the typical crab I use to catch in traps to eat. Its a baby one though. Hate to say this...get it out.....he will eat everything!!! I just hope I am wrong on that note. Link to comment
Angel
Maybe a juvenile red rock crab (Cancer productus) or a dungeness crab (Cancer magister). Here is a link to a baby red one http://www.biology.ucsc.edu/classes/bio161...als/a23can.html Angel Link to comment
Crakeur
I thought dungeoness crabs come from the northwest, cooler waters. I do know they taste real good. Link to comment
Barb
Thanks guys, I think this weekend I'll try to pull them out. I'm not really sure what I should do with them but there are several and some are a different variety. Barb Link to comment
jojopus
looks like red mithrax crab to me. It would probablyu be easier to identify if i could see the crabs claw tips. Link to comment
Crakeur
try feeding it different things. if it goes nuts for meaty foods, get it the hell out of there Link to comment
JohnnyMTB
I have the same crab in my tank, the claws are not serated and the ends are blunt instead of sharp and pointy. Mine is around 2 inches wide. Hope this helps someone ID it. Link to comment
Barb
Claw picture. He didn't really want to cooperate with me. He seemed like he was trying to eat something out of his belly here. Link to comment
Angel
I found some photos of what looks like your crab here http://www.picsbase.com/james/default.asp?...D=110&offset=75 and here http://www.picsbase.com/james/default.asp?...D=110&offset=90 but there is nothing that states what they are called, that I could find.
