RigPie
I need the formula for watts per gallon for heater? Please and Thank you. Jon Link to comment
Angel
I have always went with the 5 watts per gallon minimum. Hence a 5 gallon would work with a 25 watt and so on. Angel Link to comment
NanoBound
As recomened in the 'Contiantious Marine Aquarist' book by Fenner, 3-5 watts per gallon. Link to comment
kennerd
ditto with 5. Basically, if you have a good heater there won't be a problem of "overheating" since it will turn right off. Now, once you figure out the wattage: now it's time to find one that's not only good, but the right shape/size. I also just realized you're the guy that is doing the 20L w/ sump.....no real worries about the dimensions, just get a good one (Ebo-Jaeger, Visi-therm, Thermal are 3 I have had success with) and just lay it down in your sump. NanoBound
I would like to recomeend you don't go with a cheap heater. Get one that is submersiable. Ebo-Jager is a good brand and doesnot flexuate in the temperature as the inexpensive ones do. Link to comment
