jojopus
Mag drives are a pretty common pump sold by alot of salt water hobby joints like marinedepot.com. Im sure the screws are stainless steel or something that will not corrode in saltwater. beside the pumps are all NOT recommended for external use, meaning they are submersible which proves they are good to be used in salt water. Physh1
The stainless screws in the mags is very good. It will not corrode. I've seen some running in SW for over 8 years and never corrode. They are safe. Cameron Link to comment
el_dante
Let's just say there was a small amount of metal corroding from a screw. What could happen to the tank? Link to comment
foo
I had a mag pump in my old tank for 3 years and I had some corrosion. The screws are stainless but a two of the four screws rusted for some reason. They are completely brown with rust but are still serviceable. It was a 50 gallon tank and I never noticed any problems. Likely it elevated the iron levels in the tank but I couldn't tell. I wouldn't worry about it. Link to comment
Physh1
I you do proper maintenance you'd see it as soon as it began to happen. You'd want to change it at first sign of corrosion. You'd likely not have any problems from 1 screw but just check it periodically. Cameron Link to comment
