seabass
I have a MiniBow 7 and I just bought an AquaClear 300 HOB power filter; inside of it, I am going to put in a 50W VisiTherm heater and a small Lee skimmer (2.5 inches need to cut off the skimmer to adjust the water line properly, but that shouldn’t be a problem). To cut down the flow, I'm replacing the 300's impeller with an impeller from a Mini. This project will allow me to take the heater out of my main tank and add a skimmer without taking up any space inside my tank. Link to comment
mane3215
Thats a cool setup, I have seen a couple ppl do this before. Why are you using a mini impeller instead of the 150? Link to comment
seabass
I am used to my old HOB running 100 gph and the mini also runs 100 gph (the 150 adds another 50 gph). To create more random currents, I’m also using a Micro•Jet 450 powerhead that adds 117 gph. That’s 217 gph for a 7-gallon tank (which seems to create good flow). *** EDIT *** Plus my clownfish likes to sleep on the powerhead. Link to comment
