Twobuck40
what is the cheapest light that will sustain soft coral? cheapest is not a good way to start. reefkeeping is not a cheap hobby, not even for nano-reefs. Lighting is a primary requirment for most corals. I'd suggest starting your cylcle and wait till you have $ to buy good lights before adding anything. $100 will get you great light for a 10g or 15g-h. Then add your corals, both your corals and you will be glad you waited. Link to comment
MikeB
Like we said in your other thread the aqualight from hellolights is the cheapest. Even a DIY or retro kit of smaller watts will cost more than this light. http://www.lampsnow.com/201xcoaqpcho.html The lighting for your reef is probably the most expensive part but worth it in the long run. Like twobuck40 said you don't need the lights for your cycle. Or use the money for the LR/LS and corals now to get the lighting and save up again for the LR/LS. I understand wanting to jump into it and get started, but a good reef takes a lot of time and MONEY. If you go too cheep on the lighting then you will be dooming your tank. And that is just like throwing money away. Link to comment
