Saltwater shelf life ?

What is the shelf life of pre-made saltwater?

I purchased too much my 1st go around

and do not want to use a month from now

if it will be un-healthy.

I kinda have the same Question. Except mine is concerning my own batch made up. I like to let mine stew for a couple of days before putting it in the tank. With the attitude of being tired of costantely having a mixing tub in the floor, I was wondering if I couldn't just jug it up after mixing for the next weeks water change. Provided I put some form of circulation to it a couple of hours before the water change.

Anyone have any suggestions to this method??? I am assuming it would be fine this way, so long as I donot provide the stored mix with any of the bacteria from my tank water.

I'm guessing it will be fine to have it sit for a couple weeks. My LFS has premade saltwater siting in a huge holding tank. As long as the air,bugs, etc. don't get to it, I think you will be fine.

If you do hold it for a while, I would double check the salinity and PH before you add it to the tank.

I would also airate it for a few hours before use.

JMO though, sorry nothing concrete.
