Hi, I'm new and I'm just looking into setting up a 10g nano reef. Anyhoo, Suppose I get an aq300 for my fuge, how could I slow down the water flow? I've read about people tinkering with the impellers, cutting up acrylic, and drilling holes but I'm not much of a DIY kind of person. So, could I use a powerhead to direct the flow somewhere else or something? Please give me suggestions, and if a powerhead is not good then is there anything else I can get away with, without any DIY involved that is  Thanks!

The only thing that I know that will slow the flow, without any major DIY work, is to get a impeller from a smaller aq HOB, and put it in the 300. It's very easy to do. You will probably have to special order the smaller impeller though.

I'm about to do the same thing, but i'm going to use the impeller from my aq Mini. I mainly want the 300 for more room to put a heater and a small protein skimmer inside.

You can also pull your intake tube about 1/8 " straight

up. it will slow it down a buch. Higher you pull it up,

slower it goes. You just cannot put the top on the HOB

but if you are using as a fuge no need to.

I have a 150 prop in mine but it was still to

much flow. Its now perfect with a small lift.
