EtOH_is_good
anyone know how often a nielsen reactor should be cleaned out? i'm getting ready to set mine up again and was cleaning it last night after several years of sitting dry. the stuff at the bottom was all chalk. so did the chalk form when i drained the reactor, or was it there the whole time i was using the reactor for top-offs? etoh Link to comment

Pship
It is there from when the Kalkwasser settles. To clean it out really well put a mixture of 20% vinegar and 80% water in the reactor. Let it sit overnight and stir it with a large wooden spoon or a spatula and it will look as clean as the day you bought it! Do the same with the pump too. I would personally clean it at least once a month, just make a habit of cleaning it the 1st of every month that will make it pretty hard to forget. Link to comment
