Graywolf57
My understanding is he is just making up a predetermined batch size (1 Pint). Along with the vinegar and Kalk he needed the water to complete his batch....is that what you were asking. Chufa could confirm. Link to comment
Skeezer
From what I can tell, it seems like the vinegar method will undoubtably give you an acidic solution--but with drip dosing and the buffering capacity of your tank (i.e, good alkalinity), the ph of your tank should not change Link to comment
Masoch
Hi guys, I don't have much to add, except that Dr. Randy Holmes-Farley's forum at ReefCentral has a boatload of info about calcium additives (kalk, two-parters, calcium). Kalkwasser (he prefers limewater, if you do a search) is his favourite method for mainting calcium because it's balanced (alk + calcium), easy to dose by dripping or float-switches, and cheap. Vinegar + kalk and products like turbo calcium aren't balanced -- they can fug part your alk and / or calcium levels if you aren't careful. Two-parters are just plain old expensive and might add things you don't want. I like it. Link to comment
