29 gallon sump

So I am setting up my 29 gallon sump,

 

I want to hear who is using a HOB overflow what pros and cons

 

Im going for the drain area, a fuge and then the return. Basically using it just to add water volume.

 

Give me your opinions whats worked for you. Ive read melevs reef and just about every other sump thread here.

Well I have decided to use my HOB overflow. I was going to drill my 20 glass, then I was going to to buy a 20 Acrylic but said screw it. I come from old school Wet dry days and I always liked my overflow HOB. I never had a flood. They gurgle a bit but so what? If the sypohn breaks the worst that happend was I would get some bubbles from the pump in the tank. IF the power went out the Syphon would break once the box on the overflow ran dry and that would end it. I liked mine.

I made my own HOB overflow for $10 using a food grade pitcher, and valve. I have it setup so it will NEVER break the siphon
