What else do you need with a CPR hang on refugium? What is a sump do you need one? with this refugium it will be used in a 20 long.

A sump is another container of water (usually another tank, sometimes a special tank with dividers in it) that people generally keep under their main tank. They set up a plumbing system such that water drains out of the main tank, then into the sump (maybe into a refugium first, or maybe a refugium is one of the divided off sections of the sump), and then water is pumped back into the main tank.

The sump usually holds a protien skimmer, heaters, other filters, a refugium, etc. It's purpose is to hold all your ugly equipment so that your tank does not have it all hanging out. Since the water "circuit" is not broken, you can change water from the sump and not disturb the main tank. Also with an overflow system, the main tanks water level never changes, though the water in the sump might drop. You can add your supplements to the sump so it gets diluted before being pumped back into the main tank. It also provides more water volume. you might have a 10g display tank and a 20g sump! (or no sump at all).

It's basically an annex for your tank that is really ghetto.

Most people put macro algae in their refugiums, which requires lighting to support it. A Jalli 13W strip hood is a good choice for lighting.

You shouldn’t need an additional sump if you are running a CPR hang on fuge.

I also hear that the medium size gives you enough room for the small Lee Protein Skimmer and the light. Of course there will be room for some live sand, small pieces of LR, and your heater.
