I'm Confused about Lighting

Hi all,

Since this is my first time w/ a nano, can someone explain to me how 96w of PC can be ok for a 10gal nano? I've messed around w/ reef before but to me this sounds crazy.....that's almost 10w per gallon! (not to mention, how the corals and fish will react)

:o

The setup that I'm referring to is the 20" Coralife Aqualight 96w. I even asked around at several LFS and they all looked at me as if I'm nuts..lol Is it because the output of these lights are not as good as the other PC out there (LFS claimed that they are just as good as CSL)?

This leads me to my second question then: if I plan to setup a 15gal long, then can I use the Coralife Aqualight 130w PC then or what would be good wattage for it?

Thanks for all your help.

I can give you my take on this situation. There are people using MH on 20 gallon tanks. I think 96w over a 10 is okay.

Is this the light that has legs, and sits on top of the tank? If so, I've heard many good things about it. I considered using it on my 12 gallon.

I say go for it, and take the LFS information in stride.
