new fish/old fish

last week a domino damsel died in my tank,it could not

swim.it had like white dots growing on him(they were not there before) plus he had little parts on him that were getting bleached in tan, this week I got a new damsel,what was the disease that the other fish had?

is the disease still present in the water?

if it is,how do I get rid of it?and will it affect my new damsel.

You really should've asked this question BEFORE buying your new fish. From your description it looks like your old fish had ich. I had the same problem once and the advice given to me was to wait a month before adding a new fish to the tank, which I did.
