siskiou
After having to hold back for two months, because of finances, I finally got 30 lbs of Fiji LR on Saturday. Up till now, I've only had two small pieces of LR and a 2" SB (some live) in my 20G high. SG is 1.025 Temp 80 F PH 8.0 Ammonia 8.0 (cheapo test) Nitrite I'm contemplating doing a water change, since I want to preserve as much life as possible and would rather have a longer cycle. Patience I have in spades, since I have to save up for any inhabitants for the future anyhow! The little piccolo skimmer is starting to pull out quite a bit of stuff. One more question: at what point can I add macro algae to the HOB fuge? Right away? When the cycle is finished? Not sure if macro algae is sensitive to ammonia... Siskiou Link to comment
NanoBound
Sounds like you are right on track with the cycling. As for the water change, go ahead and do one to help preserve most of the life. It will only add a little more time to the cycle, but not much. I am not sure about the micro algae...kinda wondered about that one myself. Link to comment
bamann345
I would do a water change but a small one. Only like 1 gallon. If you do too big of one you will just start your cycle all over again.... Link to comment
