percula help

i just got a percula a few days ago. at first he hid in the back of the tank behind my power head. then today he moved to the front corner down by the sand hiding under a rock. now, he's moved to a different corner and hiding beneath the rocks. he's been kicking up sand. what is he doing?

 

i had ordered him from ffexpress and the fedex guy failed to deliver him to me in the morning and so i didn't get him until about 8pm that night from the fedex station. my nitrates were at 2.5ppm and ammonia .25ppm the other day and then i just did a water change.

 

is he going to be okay? what is he doing by kicking up the sand? (its making a mess of my tank)
