horsehunter
I see ads for carbon claiming not to release phosphate into the aquarium but see no such claims made for the Aquaclear Carbon inserts. Does any one know if they produce or release phosphates? Thanks Frank Link to comment

Physh1
I've never seen anything released from them. I've used them for years and test for phosphates pretty often. No issues ever here and the carbon seems to be of a good quality. Cameron Link to comment

I had a horrible outbreak of algae and cyano because of it long ago. Came from a millenium carbon insert. Link to comment
caja
I rinse mine real well under running RO/DI water before I put it in the HOB. Lots of nasty black gunk you don't want in the tank. Link to comment
