Alot of corals propagate by splitting into smaller corals. We sometimes help this process along by fragging or fragmenting a coral when it starts to get to big for our tanks. So we then go to Frag meets and trade our little pieces of coral that will grow into big pieces of coral and the cycle is started all over again. Plus it is alot more fun to watch a little tiny piece of coral grow than it is to buy a big piece IMO.

 

You being from the Chicago Land is a big help to you cause you have several clubs to go to.
