swordfish
Well, okay, I am overstating that a little......maybe the word "staggering" is a bit much, but let's say I was a bit suprised at what the cost of the glass to make my own 26"L X 10"W X 12"H tank would be. $51 at a glass store for 1/4 inch untempered glass. Try as I might to use that one online volume calculator, I couldn't get it to work right for me, but I think that's a capacity of about 13 gallons. I guess my next tank, therefore, will be a plain old manufactured ten gallon after all, at least this time around. And there's always that Next Tank, isn't there? Link to comment
SteveC
26 x 10 x 12 = 3120 cu. in. 1 US gallon = 231 cu. in. 3120 / 231 = 13.5 gallons Link to comment
MrConclusion
I cut a lot of glass for photo framing, and I will vouch for the glass people, because 1/2 inch untempered ("plate") glass isn't cheap, and it isn't fun to cut. Link to comment
