koj11
Has anyone ever used this sand? If so, pictures would be great! I'm considering it for my 7 gallon minibow I'm setting up. Link to comment
Crakeur
it'll make your tank look like a fancy ashtray, in my most humble opinion Link to comment
caja
I'd have to agree. I know there are people here that use it, but I really don't care for it. Link to comment
SteveC
Is it volcanic? Or just dyed? Either way, it doesn't really do it for me. A dark substrate can look good with a FW or maybe SWFO tank, but in my mind at least a reef really needs light sand. Link to comment

I am using it for my Harlequin shrimp tank and they look cool against the black sand and it IS silica and is reef safe. ***** keeping it clean though. HTH! Link to comment
onthefly
I saw a pic once with this stuff, even with strong lighting, the tank looked dark! Did you try a search for it here, I thought I saw it here! Link to comment
Tataynic45
try mixing less than 1/4 black sand and the rest regular. Give it a somewhat beach sand look. Link to comment
MrConclusion
No it's not dyed, this is the natural color and it won't effect the water quality. That sand has less buffering ability, but other than that it's just fine to use. Personally, I think it looks really nice if the rest of the aquascaping is brightly colored. Link to comment
