Cleaner Crew added from day 1 ??

If you are using cured rock (Dr.Mac 10lbs)

and live sand(10 lbs) can you add the

cleanig crew from day. Mostly snails

and 2 hermit crabs, no shrimp ???

 

I always here that people get "hitchhikers"

with there LR and they dont seem to die

through the cycle.

Personally I would wait a couple of weeks. Even though the LR was cured it will still have a bit of die off from being taken out of the water for transit. I used cured LR that I hand picked in both my tanks and still had a small cycle that lasted about a week and a half.

snails especially and hermits are also very susceptible to ammonia toxicity....in fact, i've found them to be more delicate than my fish. the last thing you want is a snail or hermit to go into hiding in your LR and die....exhuming their bodies from under LR can be a pain in the $@*#&*@
